Black Sabbath to brytyjski zespół heavymetalowy założony w Birmingham w 1968 roku, uważany za pioniera gatunku heavy metal. Zespół zdefiniował gatunek zwłaszcza albumami Black Sabbath (1970), Paranoid (1970) i Master of Reality (1971).
Kompilacja The Dio Years została wydana w 2007 roku nakładem wytwórni Warner Bros. Records i dokumentuje okres twórczości zespołu z wokalistą Ronniem Jamesem Dio. Album zawiera 16 zremasterowanych utworów ze studyjnych albumów Heaven and Hell (1980), Mob Rules (1981) i Dehumanizer (1992), koncertową wersję „Children of the Sea” z albumu Live Evil (1982) oraz trzy nowe utwory nagrane w 2007 roku: „The Devil Cried”, „Shadow of the Wind” i „Ear in the Wall”. Na amerykańskiej liście Billboard album osiągnął 54. miejsce.
