The Chieftains to irlandzki zespół założony w 1962 roku w Dublinie, będący światowym synonimem tradycyjnej muzyki irlandzkiej. Ich brzmienie, niemal wyłącznie instrumentalne i oparte na uilleann pipes, przyniosło muzyce irlandzkiej międzynarodowy rozgłos. Zespół zdobył sześć nagród Grammy, a w 1989 roku irlandzki rząd nadał mu honorowy tytuł „Muzyczni ambasadorzy Irlandii”.
Kompilacja Chronicles: 60 Years of The Chieftains ukazała się w 2021 roku nakładem wytwórni Claddagh Records jako podwójny album na LP. Zbiór podsumowuje 40 utworów z sześćdziesięcioletniej kariery grupy i zawiera zarówno nagrania studyjne, jak i wersje koncertowe z występów (m.in. z Massey Hall w Toronto w 1976 roku czy Cambridge Folk Festival w 1981 roku). Wśród wyróżnionych utworów znajdziemy tradycyjne The Rocky Road to Dublin, Danny Boy, The Foggy Dew czy cover amerykańskiej The Long Black Veil.
W czasie wydania albumu w skład The Chieftains wchodzili Paddy Moloney, Seán Keane, Kevin Conneff i Matt Molloy.
