Cream była brytyjską rockową supergrupą, założoną w Londynie w 1966 roku i złożoną z członków wcześniej odnoszących sukcesy zespołów. Ich brzmienie łączyło blues rock, hard rock i rock psychodeliczny, a grupa była wysoko ceniona za instrumentalne umiejętności każdego z muzyków.
Wheels of Fire to trzeci studyjny album wydany w 1968 roku przez wytwórnię Universal Music Recordings, dostępny obecnie w specjalnym pięciopłytowym pudełku zawierającym łącznie 63 nagrania. Oryginalnie ukazał się jako podwójny album z jedną płytą studyjną i jedną koncertową, osiągając 3. miejsce w Wielkiej Brytanii oraz 1. pozycję w USA. Album stał się pierwszym podwójnym albumem w historii z platynowym certyfikatem i zawiera klasyczne utwory takie jak White Room, Politician czy Born Under a Bad Sign.
W czasie wydania albumu zespół tworzyli perkusista Ginger Baker, basista i wokalista Jack Bruce oraz gitarzysta Eric Clapton.
