Desmond Dekker był jamajskim wokalistą i autorem piosenek, jedną z pierwszych międzynarodowych gwiazd ska i reggae. Do jego największych hitów należą Israelites (1968), 007 (Shanty Town) (1967) i It Mek (1969). W Wielkiej Brytanii odniósł sukces już w latach sześćdziesiątych; miał wystąpić w Pradze w czerwcu 2006 roku, jednak koncert nie doszedł do skutku z powodu jego niespodziewanej śmierci w maju tego samego roku.
Kompilacja King of Ska na 2 CD mapuje wczesną twórczość z lat 1963–1967, kiedy Dekker nagrywał dla jamajskiej wytwórni Beverley's Records producenta Lesliego Konga. Kolekcja obejmuje 40 ska singli, w tym tytułowe King of Ska, 007, Dracula, Mount Zion i inne. Wydana przez wytwórnię Trojan Records w 2023 roku.
