The Pogues to angielsko-irlandzki zespół, który w latach osiemdziesiątych położył podwaliny pod celtic punk. Grają mieszankę tradycyjnej muzyki irlandzkiej i punku, wykorzystując banjo, tin whistle, akordeon i inne tradycyjne instrumenty. Kapela zyskała uznanie przede wszystkim dzięki energetycznym występom w londyńskich pubach i klubach.
Album Red Roses For Me ukazał się w 1984 roku jako debiut zespołu. To jubileuszowe wydanie na 2 CD zawiera oprócz oryginalnego nagrania także utwory ze stron B singli oraz nagrania z legendarnych BBC Sessions dla Johna Peela i Davida 'Kid' Jensena z 1984 roku. Pierwsza płyta zawiera klasyczne utwory jak Transmetropolitan, Streams Of Whiskey czy Dark Streets Of London, drugi krążek przynosi alternatywne wersje i nagrania na żywo.
Oryginalny skład tworzyli Shane MacGowan (wokal, gitara), Spider Stacy (tin whistle), Jem Finer (banjo), James Fearnley (akordeon), Cait O'Riordan (gitara basowa) i Andrew Ranken (perkusja).
