Ennio Morricone był włoskim kompozytorem, dyrygentem i orkiestratorem, który jest uważany za jednego z najważniejszych twórców muzyki filmowej wszech czasów. Za ponad pięćset dzieł filmowych otrzymał dwie nagrody Oscar, trzy Grammy i wiele innych wyróżnień.
Kompilacja Collected ukazała się w 2014 roku nakładem wytwórni Universal Music jako trzypłytowy zestaw na CD. Zawiera 68 nagrań muzyki filmowej z okresu 1961–1986, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem gatunku westernu – The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Once Upon a Time in the West, For a Few Dollars More – oraz innych kultowych kompozycji filmowych Morricone, takich jak The Ecstasy of Gold, Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion czy The Sicilian Clan.
