Alphaville to niemiecki zespół synthpopowy, który zyskał międzynarodową sławę na początku lat 80. Przeboje takie jak „Big in Japan”, „Forever Young” czy „Sounds Like a Melody” zdefiniowały brzmienie synth-popu całej dekady.
Album Salvation ukazał się w 1997 roku nakładem wytwórni Warner Music. To ostatni album grupy wydany przez tę wytwórnię, a także ostatni z udziałem Bernarda Lloyda, który opuścił zespół w 2003 roku. Niniejsza reedycja zawiera 45 utworów na 3 CD w digisleeve z 16-stronicową książeczką – zremasterowany oryginalny album uzupełniają single „Wishful Thinking”, „Flame” i „Soul Messiah” wraz z wersjami radiowymi, remiksami i innymi rzadkościami. Na płycie znalazły się takie kompozycje jak „Monkey in the Moon”, „Guardian Angel” czy epicki „Point of Know Return”.
W czasie wydania Salvation skład tworzyli Marian Gold (wokal), Bernhard Lloyd (keyboard), Ricky Echolette (gitara, keyboard), Robbie France (perkusja), David Goodes (gitara), Jakob Kiersch (perkusja), Martin Lister (keyboard) i Rainer Bloss.
