Alphaville to niemiecka grupa synthpopowa, która powstała w 1982 roku w Münsterze. Nazwa pochodzi od filmu francuskiego reżysera Jeana-Luca Godarda z 1965 roku. Grupa zyskała międzynarodową sławę dzięki hitom takim jak „Big in Japan” i „Forever Young”.
Album Salvation ukazał się w 1997 roku nakładem wytwórni Navigator Music i jest piątym albumem studyjnym zespołu. Płyta zawiera 15 utworów, w tym single „Wishful Thinking”, „Flame” i „Soul Messiah”. Winylowe wydanie zawiera 20-stronicowy booklet. Była to ostatnia współpraca grupy z klawiszowcem Bernardem Lloydem, który opuścił zespół w 2003 roku.
Przy albumie pracowali Marian Gold (wokal), Bernhard Lloyd (instrumenty klawiszowe), Ricky Echolette (gitara, instrumenty klawiszowe), Robbie France (perkusja), David Goodes (gitara), Jakob Kiersch (perkusja), Martin Lister (instrumenty klawiszowe) oraz Rainer Bloss.
