Grupa The Beat (znana w krajach anglosaskich jako The English Beat lub The British Beat) powstała w 1978 roku w Birmingham i należała do pionierów ruchu 2 Tone ska revival. W swoim brzmieniu łączyła ska, pop, latino, reggae i punk rock.
Album Special Beat Service ukazał się w 1982 roku jako trzeci studyjny krążek zespołu. To wydanie na 2LP prezentuje nowo zremasterowaną wersję z 2024 roku, wytłoczoną na limitowanym srebrnym winylu. Zawiera dwanaście utworów, w tym takie hity jak Save It for Later, Jeanette czy I Confess.
