Brytyjski zespół Genesis należy do pionierów rocka progresywnego. Grupa powstała w 1967 roku, jej skład zmieniał się na przestrzeni lat, do 1975 roku występował w niej Peter Gabriel. Najbardziej stabilny i komercyjnie najbardziej udany skład tworzyli Phil Collins, Tony Banks i Mike Rutherford.
Szósty studyjny album The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway został pierwotnie wydany w 1974 roku, a obecnie dostępny jest jako zremasterowane wydanie stereo z 2007 roku na dwóch winylach. Jest to koncepcyjny dwupłytowy album opowiadający historię portorykańskiego chłopca żyjącego w Nowym Jorku, który wyrusza w podróż samopoznania, przeżywając przy tym szereg surrealistycznych przygód. Wśród najbardziej znanych utworów znalazły się The Carpet Crawlers, In the Cage i Counting Out Time. To ostatnie nagranie z Peterem Gabrielem.
