Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez ukazało się 23 października 2020 roku nakładem wytwórni Parlophone jako siódmy studyjny album zespołu. Nagranie zawiera 17 utworów, które Gorillaz stopniowo udostępniali w ciągu roku jako epizody projektu webowego Song Machine. Na albumie gościnnie wystąpili między innymi Robert Smith z The Cure, Elton John, zmarły perkusista Tony Allen, brytyjscy raperzy Skepta, Kano i slowthai oraz punkowy duet Slaves. To jednopłytowe CD zawiera wszystkie utwory, które ukazały się także w rozszerzonej podwójnej winylowej wersji.
W 2020 roku skład tworzyli animowane postacie 2D (wokal, klawisze, melodyka), Murdoc Niccals (gitara basowa, automaty perkusyjne), Noodle (wokale wspierające, gitara, klawisze) oraz Russel Hobbs (perkusja).
