Workingman's Dead to czwarty album studyjny grupy, wydany 14 czerwca 1970 roku przez wytwórnię Warner Bros. Records. Magazyn Rolling Stone uznał go za najlepszą płytę 1970 roku. Album, nagrany w lutym 1970 roku, wraz z kolejnym, American Beauty, odchodzi od psychodelicznych eksperymentów poprzednich wydawnictw w stronę stylu Americana autorstwa Jerry'ego Garcii i Roberta Huntera. To zremasterowane wydanie z 2020 roku zawiera łącznie 16 utworów, w tym Uncle John's Band, Casey Jones i Cumberland Blues, oraz bonusowe nagranie koncertu z 21 lutego 1971 roku z Capitol Theatre w Nowym Jorku.
