Iron Maiden to brytyjski zespół heavymetalowy założony w 1975 roku przez basistę Steve'a Harrisa. Należy do pionierów new wave of British heavy metal i do najbardziej utytułowanych formacji metalowych wszech czasów.
Album koncertowy Rock in Rio ukazał się w 2002 roku nakładem wytwórni Parlophone i dokumentuje finałowy koncert trasy Brave New World Tour ze stycznia 2001 roku, kiedy zespół wystąpił na brazylijskim festiwalu Rock in Rio przed około 250 000 widzów — przed drugą największą publicznością w swojej karierze. Ten podwójny album na 2 CD z 19 utworami dokumentuje powrót wokalisty Bruce'a Dickinsona i gitarzysty Adriana Smitha do składu i przynosi zarówno klasyczne hity, takie jak The Number of the Beast, Run to the Hills czy Hallowed Be Thy Name, jak i utwory z wówczas aktualnego albumu Brave New World. Nagranie ukazuje się teraz w zremasterowanej wersji.
W momencie wydania albumu skład tworzyli Steve Harris (gitara basowa, wokale wspierające, instrumenty klawiszowe), Nicko McBrain (perkusja) i Janick Gers (gitara).
