Kreator to niemiecka grupa thrash metalowa, która wraz z Sodom i Destruction tworzy wielką trójkę niemieckiego thrash metalu. Założona została w Essen w 1982 roku, początkowo pod nazwą Tormentor, a niedługo potem została przemianowana na Kreator.
Album Violent Revolution ukazał się 25 września 2001 roku nakładem wytwórni Nuclear Blast. To dziesiąta płyta studyjna grupy i zarazem debiut gitarzysty Samiego Yli-Sirniö w zespole. Po niemal dekadzie eksperymentów muzycznych zespół na tym albumie powrócił do stylu lat osiemdziesiątych — surowego, energicznego thrash metalu, który przyniósł mu sławę. Album osiągnął 38. miejsce na liście Media Control Charts w Niemczech. W tym dwupłytowym DigiBooku znajduje się 29 utworów — obok nagrań studyjnych także wybór nagrań koncertowych z Brazylii i Korei, wśród nich Reconquering the Throne, Servant in Heaven – King in Hell czy Pleasure to Kill.
Na albumie Violent Revolution zagrali Mille Petrozza, Christian Giesler, Tommy Vetterli i Sami Yli-Sirniö.
