LCD Soundsystem to projekt muzyczny amerykańskiego producenta Jamesa Murphy'ego, współzałożyciela wytwórni DFA Records. Łączą muzykę taneczną, punk i elektronikę z elementami diska i innych stylów. Największą uwagę zwrócili na siebie singlem „Daft Punk Is Playing at My House”, za który byli nominowani do nagrody Grammy.
Album The Long Goodbye ukazał się w 2011 roku nakładem wytwórni Parlophone jako potrójne CD zawierające łącznie 28 utworów. Zawiera zapis wspomnianego pożegnalnego koncertu w Madison Square Garden, którym zespół pierwotnie zakończył swoją działalność. Wybór obejmuje utwory z całej ich dyskografii — „All My Friends”, „Losing My Edge”, „Dance Yrself Clean” czy „Someone Great”. Zapis z występu został również wykorzystany w filmie dokumentalnym Shut Up and Play the Hits.
