Little Feat to amerykańska grupa rockowa założona w 1969 roku w Los Angeles. Repertuar zespołu przez lata zmieniał się gatunkowo – flirtuje z rock'n'rollem, bluesem, rhythm and bluesem, boogie, country, folkiem, gospel, soul, funkiem i elementami jazzu.
Waiting for Columbus ukazało się w 1978 roku na podwójnym winylu nakładem wytwórni Warner Records. Jest to pierwszy album koncertowy zespołu, nagrany podczas siedmiu występów w sierpniu 1977 – pierwsze cztery koncerty odbyły się w londyńskim Rainbow Theatre (1–4 sierpnia), pozostałe trzy w Lisner Auditorium przy George Washington University w Waszyngtonie (8–10 sierpnia). Album zawiera 17 utworów, w tym klasyki takie jak Dixie Chicken, Willin', Fat Man in the Bathtub czy Sailin' Shoes.
W czasie nagrania skład tworzyli Lowell George (gitara), Paul Barrère (wokal, gitara), Bill Payne (keyboard), Kenny Gradney (gitara basowa), Richie Hayward (perkusja), Sam Clayton (instrumenty perkusyjne), Fred Tackett (gitara) i Phil Brown (gitara).
