New Order to brytyjska grupa rockowa, znaczący przedstawiciel nurtu new wave i synthpopu. Powstała w 1980 roku z pozostałych członków Joy Division po samobójstwie ich wokalisty Iana Curtisa. Zespół tworzą Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook, Stephen Morris i Gillian Gilbert; w latach 80. zasłynął połączeniem post-punku z elektroniką i rytmami tanecznymi.
Album Low-Life ukazał się w maju 1985 roku nakładem wytwórni Factory Records i jest trzecim studyjnym dziełem New Order. Płyta stanowi moment, w którym grupa definitywnie zakończyła swoją przemianę od post-punkowych korzeni w synth-popowe brzmienie, które wpłynęło na całe pokolenie. Nagranie charakteryzują chłodne syntezatorowe tekstury, melodyjne linie basu i eksperymentalna produkcja. Zawiera kultowe utwory The Perfect Kiss, Love Vigilantes czy instrumentalną Elegia. To rozszerzone wydanie na pięciu dyskach oferuje oryginalny album, rzadkie wersje instrumentalne i nagrania writing session, zapisy koncertowe z Tokio, Rotterdamu, Toronto i innych miast z 1985 roku. Większość dodatkowych materiałów nigdy wcześniej nie została wydana.
W czasie wydania albumu skład był czteroosobowy: Bernard Sumner (gitara, śpiew, syntezatory), Peter Hook (gitara basowa, syntezatory), Stephen Morris (perkusja, syntezatory) i Gillian Gilbert (gitara, syntezatory).
