Saxon to brytyjska grupa heavymetalowa z Barnsley w Yorkshire, jedna z czołowych kapel nowej fali brytyjskiego heavy metalu (NWOBHM). W latach 80. osiągnęła osiem albumów w brytyjskiej Top 40 i odniosła sukces nie tylko w Wielkiej Brytanii, ale także w Europie i Japonii. Ich muzyka wywarła wpływ na późniejsze zespoły, takie jak Metallica czy Megadeth.
Album The Eagle Has Landed ukazał się w maju 1982 roku jako pierwsze nagranie koncertowe grupy i osiągnął 5. miejsce na brytyjskiej liście albumów. Został nagrany podczas europejskiej trasy promującej album Denim and Leather. Zestaw obejmuje takie klasyki jak Motorcycle Man, Heavy Metal Thunder, Wheels of Steel czy Princess of the Night. Teraz ukazuje się w reedycji na CD z łącznie 16 utworami rozszerzonej o bonusowe nagrania zarejestrowane na żywo w londyńskim Hammersmith.
Na albumie wystąpił skład z Biff Byfordem (wokal), a także Paul Quinn i Graham Oliver (gitary), Steve Dawson (gitara basowa) oraz Nigel Glockler, który zadebiutował tutaj jako perkusista grupy.
