Super Furry Animals to walijski zespół alternatywnego rocka założony w Cardiff w 1993 roku, łączący punk, techno, rock progresywny i power pop.
Album Rings Around the World ukazał się w lipcu 2001 roku nakładem wytwórni Epic jako debiut zespołu dla dużej wytwórni i dotarł na trzecie miejsce brytyjskiej listy przebojów. Muzycznie eklektyczna płyta łącząca pop, rock progresywny, jungle, elektronikę, techno, punk i death metal była tego samego roku nominowana do prestiżowej nagrody Mercury, a magazyn Mojo ogłosił ją albumem roku. Na nagraniu gościnnie wystąpili legendy: Paul McCartney i John Cale. Z okazji dwudziestej rocznicy wydania album ukazuje się w kilku wersjach zremasterowanych z oryginalnych taśm – ta edycja na trzech winylach obejmuje 50 utworów. Główne single Juxtapozed with U, (Drawing) Rings Around the World i It's Not the End of the World? ugruntowały pozycję zespołu na czele walijskiej sceny muzycznej.
W czasie wydania albumu w skład zespołu wchodzili Gruff Rhys (gitara, wokal), Huw Bunford (gitara), Guto Pryce (gitara basowa), Cian Ciaran (syntezatory) i Dafydd Ieuan (perkusja).
