Amerykański gitarzysta i wokalista Bob Weir znany jest przede wszystkim jako współzałożyciel legendarnego psychedeliczno-rockowego zespołu Grateful Dead. W trakcie kariery działał w wielu innych projektach i nagrywał również albumy solowe.
Album Ace ukazał się pierwotnie w 1972 roku jako debiut Weira. Wytwórnia Rhino wydaje go obecnie z okazji pięćdziesiątej rocznicy jako podwójne CD – pierwszy dysk zawiera 8 utworów w zremasterowanej wersji (2023 Remaster), drugi natomiast to zapis koncertu z kwietnia 2022 roku w nowojorskim Radio City Music Hall, gdzie Weir wykonał specjalny program poświęcony temu albumowi (9 utworów live). Większość utworów stała się stałym elementem koncertowych setów Grateful Dead. Wśród wyróżniających się nagrań są Playing in the Band, Greatest Story Ever Told czy Looks Like Rain.
