Dio był amerykańskim heavymetalowym zespołem założonym przez wokalistę Ronniego Jamesa Dio oraz perkusistę Vinny'ego Appice'a po odejściu z Black Sabbath. Dzięki charyzmatycznemu głosowi Ronniego Jamesa Dio i surowemu heavy metalowemu brzmieniu grupa sprzedała na całym świecie ponad 10 milionów albumów.
Album koncertowy Holy Diver Live na winylu ukazał się w 2006 roku nakładem wytwórni Eagle Vision i zawiera 17 utworów. Przynosi zapis występu z trasy koncertowej w Londynie w 2005 roku, podczas którego zespół zagrał cały debiutancki album Holy Diver w oryginalnej kolejności. Obok tytułowych kompozycji Holy Diver, Rainbow in the Dark i Stand Up and Shout zabrzmiały także klasyki z repertuaru Rainbow oraz Black Sabbath, wśród nich Heaven & Hell, Man on the Silver Mountain czy Gates of Babylon.
Na albumie zagrali Scott Warren na instrumentach klawiszowych oraz Rudy Sarzo na gitarze basowej.
