Epica to holenderska symphonic-metalowa grupa założona w 2002 roku, która zyskała uznanie dzięki połączeniu sopranowego wokalu Simone Simons z surowym growlingiem Marka Jansena oraz orkiestrowymi aranżacjami.
EP The Alchemy Project ukazało się na kolorowym winylu (toxic green marbled) jako koncepcyjne wydawnictwo, w którym zespołowi w każdym z siedmiu utworów towarzyszą wybitni goście ze sceny metalowej. Wśród współpracowników znajdziemy członków Fleshgod Apocalypse, Uriah Heep, Kamelot, Shining, Soilwork, God Dethroned, Aborted, Insomnium czy Powerwolf. Lista utworów obejmuje The Great Tribulation, Wake the World, Sirens - Of Blood and Water czy Death is not the End.
W nagraniu EP udział wzięli: Mark Jansen (gitara), Isaac Delahaye (gitara), Coen Janssen (klawisze), Rob Van Der Loo (gitara basowa) i Arien Van Weesenbeek (perkusja).
