Motörhead to brytyjska grupa rockowa i heavymetalowa założona w 1975 roku przez basistę i wokalistę Iana „Lemmy'ego” Kilmistera, uznawana za pioniera nowej fali brytyjskiego heavy metalu. Zespół wyróżniał się agresywnym brzmieniem, charakterystycznym wokalem Lemmy'ego i bezkompromisową energią na pograniczu heavy metalu, speed metalu i rock'n'rolla.
Iron Fist ukazał się w kwietniu 1982 roku nakładem wytwórni Bronze Records i uplasował się na 6. miejscu brytyjskiej listy przebojów. Był to piąty album studyjny grupy i zarazem ostatni z udziałem klasycznego składu Three Amigos. Utwór tytułowy Iron Fist wydano jako singel, który osiągnął 29. pozycję w UK. Dwupłytowe wydanie na CD zawiera 44 utwory, w tym alternatywne wersje i bonusowe instrumentale jak Sponge Cake czy Peter Gunn.
W czasie wydania albumu Motörhead tworzyli Lemmy Kilmister (gitara basowa, wokal), Phil „Philthy Animal” Taylor (perkusja), Eddie Clarke (gitara) oraz Brian Robertson (gitara).
