Motörhead była brytyjską speed metalową grupą, którą w 1975 roku założył basista i wokalista Ian „Lemmy” Kilmister. Zespół jest uważany za prekursora nowej fali brytyjskiego heavy metalu i za jedno ze źródeł późniejszego thrash metalu.
Album No Sleep 'til Hammersmith ukazał się w czerwcu 1981 roku nakładem wytwórni Bronze Records i jest pierwszym koncertowym nagraniem grupy. Stanowił zwieńczenie udanego roku, podczas którego Motörhead odbył brytyjskie tournée obejmujące 32 koncerty w zaledwie 34 dni — tytuł albumu nawiązuje do napisu na jednym z tour-busów. Album zadebiutował na szczycie brytyjskiej listy przebojów i do dziś pozostaje najbardziej udanym tytułem zespołu w ojczyźnie. Ta rozszerzona reedycja nakładem wytwórni BMG przynosi 35 utworów na dwóch CD, wśród nich koncertowe wersje Ace of Spades, Overkill, Bomber i Iron Horse.
W czasie wydania albumu skład Motörhead tworzyli Lemmy Kilmister (gitara basowa, wokal), Phil „Philthy Animal” Taylor (perkusja) oraz Eddie Clarke (gitara).
