Brytyjskie trio, założone w 1975 roku przez basistę, wokalistę i kompozytora Iana „Lemmy'ego” Kilmistera, jest często uważane za jednego z prekursorów nowej fali brytyjskiego heavy metalu.
No Sleep 'til Hammersmith to pierwszy album koncertowy na 3× winylu wydany w czerwcu 1981 roku przez wytwórnię Bronze Records, zawierający 30 utworów z brytyjskiej trasy koncertowej, podczas której zespół w ciągu 34 dni zagrał 32 koncerty. Tytuł albumu pochodzi od napisu na jednym z tour-busów i dokumentuje Motörhead u szczytu popularności – album stał się ich jedynym wydawnictwem, które osiągnęło pierwsze miejsce na brytyjskiej liście przebojów. Wśród utworów znalazły się koncertowe wersje Ace of Spades, Overkill, Bomber czy Motorhead, które oddają surową energię i słynną głośność koncertów zespołu.
W czasie wydania albumu Motörhead tworzyli Lemmy Kilmister (gitara basowa, wokal), Phil „Philthy Animal” Taylor (perkusja) oraz Eddie Clarke (gitara).
