Prince (1958–2016) był amerykańskim wokalistą, kompozytorem i multiinstrumentalistą, słynącym z szerokiego zakresu wokalnego, androgynicznej osobowości i tworzenia minneapoliskiego brzmienia, łączącego funk, R&B, rock i pop. Siedmiokrotny laureat Grammy został w 2004 roku przyjęty do Rock and Roll Hall of Fame i jest uznawany za jednego z najproduktywniejszych muzyków ostatnich dziesięcioleci.
Album Diamonds And Pearls ukazał się w 1991 roku jako trzynasty studyjny album Prince'a — był to pierwszy projekt z nowym zespołem towarzyszącym The New Power Generation. Wydanie Super Deluxe Edition z 2023 roku na 7 CD i Blu-ray zawiera zremasterowany oryginalny album, 47 dotychczas niewydanych nagrań audio (w tym wczesne miksy i wersje alternatywne), koncert na żywo z Glam Slam w Minneapolis (styczeń 1992) oraz ponad dwie godziny materiału wideo z przestrzennym miksem Dolby Atmos.
