Saxon to brytyjska grupa heavymetalowa należąca do czołowych przedstawicieli Nowej Fali Brytyjskiego Heavy Metalu. W latach 80. zespół osiągnął znaczący sukces i wywarł wpływ na wielu następców, w tym Metallicę i Megadeth.
Rock the Nations to ósmy album studyjny Saxonu, wydany we wrześniu 1986 roku przez wytwórnię EMI. Ta rozszerzona reedycja zawiera łącznie 17 utworów, w tym bonusowe nagrania – wśród nich singlowe edycje Waiting for the Night i Northern Lady, koncertowe nagrania z Madrytu (Everybody Up, Dallas 1pm) oraz trzy utwory z legendarnego występu na Reading Rock Festival 1986 (Power and the Glory, Rock the Nations, Waiting for the Night). Ciekawostką jest, że podczas nagrywania albumu w tym samym studiu pracował Elton John, który gościnnie wystąpił w utworach Party Til You Puke i Northern Lady.
W chwili wydania albumu Saxon tworzył sześcioosobowy skład: Biff Byford (wokal), Paul Quinn i Graham Oliver (gitary), Steve Dawson i Paul Johnson (gitary basowe) oraz Nigel Glockler (perkusja).
