Kamelot to amerykańska grupa powermetalowa z Tampy na Florydzie, która do swojej muzyki wplata elementy metalu symfonicznego i progresywnego. Zespół założył w 1987 roku gitarzysta Thomas Youngblood, a od albumu Siege Perilous w tworzeniu tekstów uczestniczył norweski wokalista Roy Khan.
Ghost Opera ukazała się w 2007 roku nakładem wytwórni Napalm Records i jest ósmym albumem studyjnym zespołu. Ten dwupłytowy zestaw w digipaku zawiera 25 utworów – pierwsza płyta CD przynosi nowe nagrania studyjne, takie jak Rule the World, The Human Stain czy Love You to Death, drugi dysk łączy wersje koncertowe i bonusowe utwory, w tym remiks. Album przedstawił również nowego klawiszowca Olivera Palotaia.
W czasie wydania skład tworzyli Thomas Youngblood (gitara elektryczna), Roy Khan (wokal), Oliver Palotai (klawisze), Casey Grillo (perkusja), Glenn Barry i Sean Tibbetts (gitara basowa).
