Kamelot to amerykańska grupa power metalowa z Tampy na Florydzie, która w swojej muzyce łączy elementy metalu symfonicznego i progresywnego. Zespół założył w 1987 roku gitarzysta Thomas Youngblood.
Album Poetry for the Poisoned ukazał się w 2010 roku nakładem wytwórni Napalm Records jako dziewiąty studyjny album grupy. Jest to dwupłytowe wydanie w digipaku, obejmujące łącznie 22 utwory, w tym czteroczęściową tematyczną suitę Poetry for the Poisoned. Pierwsza płyta zawiera autorskie kompozycje, druga prezentuje koncertowe wersje klasycznych utworów takich jak The Great Pandemonium, The Human Stain czy Center of the Universe. Materiał łączy epicki melodyzm z złożonymi aranżacjami i reprezentuje dojrzały okres twórczości zespołu w gatunku power metalu.
Nad albumem pracowała sześcioosobowa obsada: Thomas Youngblood (gitara elektryczna), Roy Khan (wokal prowadzący), Oliver Palotai (instrumenty klawiszowe), Sean Tibbetts (gitara basowa), Casey Grillo (perkusja) oraz Elize Ryd (wokale wspierające).
